Day 1 — Losing Face, Finding Voice
A daily doxa way series for the UK church: What They Gave Up, What They Gained
Grace first. Overflow, not effort.
There’s no pressure here. No performance. God does the heart‑work; we respond. When He fills, words come—not to impress, but to bless. Today’s theme is reputation: laying down image‑management so a truer voice can rise from inside.
Prophetic courage isn’t volume; it’s obedience born from love. God’s Presence steadies the heart; then the mouth follows.
Scripture lens
Mary Magdalene — John 20:11–18
Gave up: a careful story about grief; fragile credibility.
Gained: the first announcement of the resurrection and the joy of obedience.
Grace movement: she hears her name, then she goes.
The Man Born Blind — John 9
Gave up: synagogue place and the safety of silence.
Gained: a clear testimony and a meeting with Jesus.
Grace movement: he simply tells what God did.
The Samaritan Woman — John 4:4–30, 39–42
Gave up: privacy in the streets that knew her story.
Gained: a town turning toward Jesus.
Grace movement: her shame becomes invitation.
Mary, the mother of Jesus — Luke 1:46–55
Gave up: a life without questions.
Gained: a song that names what God is doing in history.
Grace movement: worship before certainty.
The Trade
Gave up: reputation, image control, respectable silence.
Gained: authority to speak what’s true; joy; a name anchored in Jesus, not approval.
Grace‑led response (if you sense God leading)
Receive: Sit quietly for one minute. Breathe. Ask, “Jesus, what have You done for me lately?” Notice whatever rises; don’t force it.
Overflow: If you feel a nudge, share one simple line with the person who comes to mind. If not, keep it in your journal and thank Him.
Tone: Kind, human, everyday speech. No pressure to persuade. Love is the point.
No manufacturing. Just overflow.
For leaders
Create gentle space: “Has anyone sensed God’s Presence helping you this week?” Celebrate quiet honesty over polish. Model tenderness—truth without heat.
Remember
I am loved. From that love, I may speak.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for finding us first. Free us from image‑management. Fill our hearts with Your Presence until courage overflows. Give us clean words and a quiet, steady tone. Amen.
We are bulding the doxa app to better remember what God has promised (prophecies) and what he has done (testimonies) so we can fight the good fight (and win).
